Week 20 – Half way there…it’s a…

SURPRISE!!! We have decided to go traditional and find out when Baby arrives! I know…so many people are surprised that we’re staying the suspense…but we’re both very excited for the surprise.

Yesterday marked the 20 week mark! Huge huge milestone…we’re half way there. It’s hard to believe how fast the time is flying.

Lot’s of exciting things to share. I have yet to update our Hawaii trip post. Baby is moving and I feel it! And last but not least we got to see Baby today at our 20 week anatomy scan!

We’ll come back to the Hawaii trip.

So the last few weeks, probably since around week 16 or 17, I’ve been feeling very very slight movements but they were so subtle that it was mostly hard to distinguish. But the last few days I have felt the baby move and it’s been VERY distinct. The best way to describe the current movement is…Pulsing. It’s like when you place your fingers on your wrist or neck and feel your heart pulse but a lot bigger and not so rhythmic. But it’s like a little pump working on the inside of my tummy. It’s such an amazing feeling. The best is when Baby starts moving when I’m in a work meeting and I can’t help but smile from ear to ear. I’m sure I look silly staring at a projector screen with a big smile on my face. Every time the baby moves I wonder what it’s doing or what part of the body it is.

Today we went in for our 20 week anatomy scan and I actually got to see Baby and the movements while they were happening. Even the technician said, “you’ve got a wiggler”! Seeing Baby was so so sweet! If seeing a grainy ultrasound makes my heart melt, I just don’t know what will happen when I see this little one in person! The technician said that the baby looks very healthy which was so great and relieving to hear. We got to see it’s spine, it’s 10 little toes and the bottoms of the feet, the arms, the hand, the legs and knees, it’s little tooshie and thighs and of course it’s cute little face and ears. We had told the technician that we did not want to know the gender of the Baby so let us know when to turn away from the screen in case the baby decided to flash us. hehe. When we started the ultra sound Baby was curled up in a little ball with its head tucked in and his arms under it’s head. In the middle of the ultra sound it turned over to it’s side. And towards the end, Baby had flipped over on it’s tummy. It was so cute! I just can’t wait to meet the little one!

Hubby was equally excited to see Baby. He held my hand the whole time and was so excited to see all the details on the ultrasound. He asked how tall the baby was and the technician got an approximate length of 26cm (10inches). We also clarified the position of the baby. It’s kind of at an upside down angle right now. It’s head is to my lower right and it’s feet are a bit upwards towards my left.

We got a cute picture of it’s face to take home with us! Next appointment is in 4 weeks.
